How to Use DailyStory's Email Designer to Build High-Converting Campaigns

Written by: Rob Howard

Most enterprise marketing teams lose hours every week wrestling with email builders that force a choice between design flexibility and speed. DailyStory's email designer eliminates that tradeoff. This micro-guide walks you through building a campaign-ready email from scratch — template selection through send — in under fifteen minutes.

Start with the Right Template

Log into your DailyStory account and navigate to the campaign where you want to create your email. Click Assets, then + Add Asset, and select Add an Email. DailyStory opens the template library, organized by category: promotional, transactional, newsletters, and event-based layouts. Each template is mobile-responsive out of the box, so you skip the step most platforms force you to handle manually.

Choose a template that matches your campaign goal. Promotional templates prioritize a single call-to-action above the fold. Newsletter templates use multi-section layouts for curated content. If you need a receipt or confirmation format, the transactional category has you covered — see our guide to creating and sending your first transactional email for a deeper walkthrough.

Customize the Layout with Drag-and-Drop Blocks

Once you select a template, DailyStory's visual editor loads. The left panel contains content blocks: text, images, buttons, dividers, spacers, and social links. Drag any block into the canvas to add it. Click any existing block to edit it inline.

Three layout decisions matter most for conversion:

  • Hero section. Place your primary message and CTA within the first 300 pixels. Recipients decide whether to keep reading within two seconds. A strong headline paired with a single, high-contrast button outperforms multi-link hero sections every time.
  • Content hierarchy. Use headings, short paragraphs, and visual breaks to guide the eye. DailyStory's block editor enforces clean structure by default — no nested tables, no broken formatting across email clients. For more on this, review our 7 tips for effective email design.
  • Footer compliance. Every DailyStory template includes a pre-built footer with unsubscribe link, physical address, and preference center link. These elements are required by CAN-SPAM and most international regulations, and DailyStory ensures they stay intact regardless of your edits.

Add Personalization Without Writing Code

DailyStory's email designer supports merge tags that pull directly from your contact profiles. Click into any text block and type {{FirstName}} to insert the recipient's first name. Any standard or custom field in your contact database is available as a merge tag.

Personalization goes beyond first names. Use conditional content blocks to show different sections to different segments — a feature that most platforms reserve for their highest pricing tier. For example, show a renewal offer only to contacts whose subscription expires within 30 days, while everyone else sees a general product update. This ties directly into the power of personalization as one-to-one marketing and the importance of email list segmentation.

Preview, Test, and Send

Before sending, use DailyStory's built-in preview to check your email across desktop and mobile views. The preview renders your merge tags with sample data so you see exactly what recipients will see — no guessing.

Send a test email to yourself or your team. Check rendering in Gmail, Outlook, and Apple Mail at minimum. DailyStory's responsive engine handles most cross-client inconsistencies, but a quick visual check catches edge cases like image sizing or button alignment.

When you are satisfied, schedule the send or connect the email to an automation workflow. DailyStory's drip campaign engine lets you drop this email into a sequence alongside other touchpoints — follow-up emails, SMS messages, or push notifications — without leaving the platform. See our 14 best practices for email drip campaigns for sequencing strategy.

What to Do After You Hit Send

DailyStory tracks opens, clicks, and conversions at the campaign level and the individual contact level. Use this data to refine your next email. Which CTA placement drove the most clicks? Which subject line variant won the A/B test? These are the signals that compound over time.

Pair your email performance data with audience segmentation to build increasingly targeted campaigns. The teams that win at email marketing are the ones that treat every send as an input to the next one.
