Number Pooling

definition

What is number pooling?

Number pooling is a system used to efficiently manage and allocate telephone numbers used for SMS marketing. The primary goal of number pooling for SMS marketing is to ensure fair message distribution of numbers among different recipient carriers.

How number pooling works

Multiple sending numbers are purchased and allocated to a pool (a related group of numbers). When sending to a recipient, a number is selected from the pool and assigned to the recipient number. Current and subsequent messages sent to that recipient are bound to that number.

Before using number pooling it is important to ensure it is not considered snowshoeing.

When selecting a number for a recipient the number is ideally matched by country and area code. Such that the recipient receives a text messages from a number in their area code.

When you change pool numbers you need to warm-up your sending numbers again.
