Snowshoeing

definition

What is snowshoeing?

Snowshoeing is the process of acquiring multiple long codes for SMS marketing to distribute the messages across many sending numbers.

It is used as means to avoid carrier violations by ensuring the volume of messages sent is distributed across enough numbers that no single number appears to be misbehaving. Snowshoeing is frowned upon by the carriers, but there are some cases where using multiple numbers is both allowed and is beneficial.
